Use of Personal Information
Any
personal information submitted to us is held in the strictest of confidence and
is not shared with any third party whatsoever. The only exception made is to cooperate with
law enforcement agencies and credit card issuers for the purpose of fraud prevention.
Use of this website and submission of information does not create a
solicitor-client relationship between Eric P. Cohen and the user until payment is received or a signed retainer agreement is
received by our office. Once a solicitor-client relationship is created,
we maintain complete client confidentiality pursuant to the Law Society of Upper
Canada's Rules of Professional Conduct.
Users of this site may visit the site any number
of times without providing any personal information about themselves
whatsoever. In order to purchase our services, users must
submit certain information in order for us to process the transaction. Our site uses an order form
and a contact form for customers to request information, and our legal services.
On both of these forms, we collect certain contact information (such as email address),
legal preferences (such as proposed corporate names) and
financial information (such as credit card numbers). Contact information and
legal preferences from the order forms are used to complete legal work, to send orders to our
clients and to get in touch with site visitors when necessary.
Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings at any time; see the choice/opt-out section
below. Financial information that is collected is only used to bill the user for products and
services. Financial information is kept on file for as long as required by
our banking institution and is then destroyed.
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is used to help identify you
and to gather broad demographic information. If you do not purchase
anything on our site, we do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable. This
means that a users session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.

Site Security
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
Any time you submit one of our secure online forms, the information is encrypted
and transferred through a secure server. Your information is encrypted before
being sent to our server using Secure Socket Layers (SSL), one of the most
advanced online encryption systems available. All keys generated by our
Certificate Authority use a keysize of 1024 bits. The information remains
encrypted until it reaches our server. It is then transferred to our
computers via email using an encryption program known as PGP Personal
Privacy. The information is decrypted only when it reaches our computers.
If you use regular email to contact us, you
should be aware that your emails are not encrypted and are therefore not
secure. In addition, whether or not you use our online forms, our emails
are not encrypted. It is extremely unlikely that your or our email will be
intercepted, but if you are concerned about this, we offer a solution which will
allow encrypted email communication to be sent between ourselves and your
computer. In order to utilize this encrypted email solution you must
follow the instructions listed below:
