registered names of corporations and business names, including reserved and
proposed names, and trademark citations for trademark applications and
registrations. NUANS Name Searches are required for incorporation in the
provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia,
Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. They are also required for
federal (Canada) incorporation.
In most provinces NUANS Searches are valid for submission within 90 days. Completion of a NUANS
Search reserves the proposed corporate name in the jurisdiction of the search
for 90 days. After 90 days, a new search must be printed and submitted to
the appropriate governmental office.
